Ilo Amplifier Pack Requirements

In our environment, we use HPE OneView to manage our servers, so we haven`t tested the Amplifier Pack because some OneView features overlap. When the Amplifier package came out, I seem to remember that you couldn`t add a server that is also managed by OneView. This makes sense because both products can make changes to the servers. Now, in Amplifier Pack version 1.30, servers controlled by OneView are supported, they are put in a «monitored» state, which means that changes controlled by OneView are suspended. The Amplifier Pack comes as a virtual appliance. To download, you must register and receive an activation code. After you download and unzip the .ova file, deploy it to your environment (vSphere is the only supported platform at the time of writing). The extender recognizes the server and after a short time, you will see the server on the server administration overview page. For over a decade, iLO has stood for HPE servers with ever-increasing features and functionality, including the silicon root of trust introduced with Gen10 that you may have heard of. What you may not have heard is HPE`s new iLO amplifier pack. This new free software makes it easier to monitor and manage your ProLiant servers (Gen8 and later) while adding new features that were not previously available on any HPE management platform.

We`ll also configure which AD groups should have access to the Amplifier package. This is done in the Configuration and Settings tab -> User Management -> Directory Groups. So we go through the configuration screens, accept the EULA, configure the IP for network card 1 and possibly network card 2, DNS and time configuration. On the last screen, you can set your own password for the administrator account. What exactly does this System Restore feature do? If you`re like me, you`ve probably assumed that this would allow you to automatically restore firmware to multiple Gen10 servers from iLO Amplifier Pack, similar to individual servers. In that case, however, we would both be wrong. In fact, iLO Amplifier Pack is also capable of using a server baseline that you import in format. ISO to rely on the firmware recovery function of iLO 5. After the appliance deployment is complete, start the virtual machine, and after a short time, you must perform the initial configuration in the virtual machine console. During initial configuration, you configure the IP address settings for the appliance, and after you complete this operation, you should be able to access the web GUI from the configured address. By combining these technologies into a simplified, easy-to-use interface, iLO Amplifier Pack is able to perform several key operations that reduce the time required to manage servers, allowing IT to spend more time creating business value: Simplified licensing. There is now only one iLO Advanced license.

No more confusion between Essentials and Advanced vs Advanced for Blade Server and Premium Security. In addition, all the advanced security features of iLO 5 are now included in the iLO Advanced license level. Be sure to upgrade to version 1.40 to receive this benefit. iLO Amplifier Pack has a built-in hardware and software detection engine that finds installed hardware and current firmware and software versions on target servers. iLO Amplifier Pack installs updates in the correct order and ensures that all dependencies are met before an update is deployed. It also minimizes downtime by deploying all updates when target servers are online, limiting downtime to a single restart in most cases. From iLO Amplifier we can also retrieve various logs and reports. From the Reports page, we can extract reports of firmware, license, peripheral, hardware inventory, as well as a custom option that allows you to create your own report. The following screenshot is an example of the license report Full prerequisites can be found in the official user guide, but iLO Standard/Essentials/Scale Out enables features like discovery, inventory, reporting, and firmware updates of the main platform. iLO Advanced or iLO Advanced Premium Security Edition provide iLO repository updates, online updates for HPE firmware, drivers, and software, and email and IFTTT alerts. The server recovery feature is exclusive to the new iLO Advanced Premium Security Edition and Gen10 servers. For more information on installing, configuring, and managing the iLO extender, refer to the User Guide To configure Active Directory integration, go to Configuration and Settings -> Security Settings -> Directory From discovery, you can add a single server, an iLO federation group, or a range of IP addresses that the extender can detect.

iLO Amplifier Pack detects supported servers and receives a detailed inventory of the iLO management processor. The inventory contains details about firmware, software, and hardware that can be viewed and downloaded from the GUI. Once the instance is activated, you will be redirected to the dashboard, which is nice and empty at this point. We add a single server from the Add Server dialog box on the Assets page. We specify the IP address and credentials of the iLO and click Add. When we check the server details, we get a lot more information about the server. Note the bar at the top that indicates that the server is managed by OneView. At this point, I`ll verify the integration by logging out of the local admin and logging in with my AD account. We can quickly get an overview of the status of our servers and explore the different states to filter the server management page accordingly. UPDATED: May 10, 2019.

As with any high-quality software, there are some important updates to report for iLO Amplifier Pack! I will now share two of the most important updates and leave the following article intact so you can see where it all began. The extender is now ready to use, but I want to set up Active Directory integration before doing anything else so I can use my own account instead of the local administrator. We`ll add another server that contains a warning in OneView. Here we add the defined group name and permission that the group must have. The permissions available at this point are as follows: If we go into the details of the server and the health overview, we can see the components that trigger the errors Therefore, we decided to try it, with the ultimate goal of integrating it with HPE InfoSight. After a reboot, you should be able to access the web GUI at the configured IP address. By unifying robust management tools such as iLO, AMS, SUT and SPP federation into a single web console that can be used for free as a single web console. OVA has taken an excellent step forward in making server management much more effective and efficient. Every ProLiant Gen8 or later customer can benefit from this new software in one way or another, and many HPE customers already have iLO Advanced licenses for their ProLiant servers and can access even more functionality. OVA here and see how easy and polished iLO Amplifier Pack is and how much it really simplifies server management. After logging in with the administrator account, you must enter the activation key.

This key was sent to the email address used to register the product download. HPE ilO Amplifier Pack (Integrated Lights-Out) is the Hewlett Packard Enterprise deployment engine for updating firmware, drivers, agents and configuration tools for HPE ProLiant Servers, HPE Blade Servers and HPE Apollo Servers. It can discover and inventory up to 10,000 servers and provides detailed server inventory and downloadable reports. ilO Amplifier Pack allows you to view all your inventory and keep your servers up to date from a single dashboard. On the Alerts and Event Logs page, we find a list of various alerts and log events from our servers. These can also be exported in CSV format HPE recently announced that the HPE InfoSight service now supports servers. This is what we have been waiting for and we are excited about the new features. HPE InfoSight for Server. In January 2019, HPE launched InfoSight for Servers to provide health reports, alerts and more from InfoSight to HPE servers running iLO 4 and later. To avoid aligning your servers directly with the outside world, iLO Amplifier Pack is used to aggregate server health reports and then send them to InfoSight, where it can be used to streamline your operations and reduce total cost of ownership. With a few servers added to the amplifier, let`s look at the overview dashboard As I mentioned earlier in this article, we use HPE OneView to manage our servers, so we can`t perform any actions on those servers.

I plan to find out in a future blog post how the extender can do things like firmware updates, etc. with a server outside of OneView. Server integration with InfoSight requires installation and integration of the iLO Amplifier Pack with InfoSight. Now let`s take a look at adding a server (managed by OneView) to the extender. You are taken to either the discovery page or Resources -> Servers -> Add Server *This is a soft limit; the largest quantity tested and validated by HPE.
