Services providedPublic ServicesCLSMF Public Benefits Lawyers, paralegals and lawyers help eligible residents of Central Florida access public services, including health care, cash assistance, food assistance and disability benefits. Community Legal Services helps residents who rent their homes or apartments stay in their homes when faced with evictions, uninhabitable living conditions and other problems in private and public housing (Article 8). When a person pays to live in a home, apartment or mobile home, the tenant becomes a tenant under Florida law. It does not matter if the payment is made weekly, monthly or at other regular times. It also does not matter whether the apartment, house or mobile home is rented by an individual, a company or most government agencies. These facts apply even if there is no written «lease agreement». The Consumer Law Unit deals with issues related to collection, garnishment, redemption, contracts, consumer fraud, small claims courts and debtor harassment. CLSMF may be able to help you if you believe a creditor is mistakenly trying to garnish your salary, bank account or other assets. These are all common consumer law issues where many are unaware they have the right to protect their assets.
In addition to providing legal advice or representation in specific consumer rights cases, CLSMF`s consumer rights team assists qualified individuals in preparing documents when faced with such consumer issues.
