Wisconsin Legal Shooting Hours
* Shooting times are from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset. No hunting permit or license is required. Shooting time: Half an hour before sunrise until sunset, unless otherwise stated Duck blinds – It is illegal to hunt from or within 30 meters of a permanent blind on Miccosukee Lake and Iamonia, Jackson and Carr Lakes. The use of temporary duck blinds, including those made of vegetation and removed at the end of each hunt, is allowed. Dates and opening times: Check seasonal dates and shooting times. Vessel Engine Restrictions – During the regular duck hunting season (November 19-27 and December 10 to January 29), the use of internal combustion engines is prohibited on Lake Iamonia (except with the permission of the General Manager) and Carr Lake. The use of internal combustion engines over 10 HP on Miccosukee Lake is also prohibited during these dates.
However, internal combustion engines and airfoils can be used during duck season in September and during juvenile and veteran/military bird hunting days on these lakes. Hunters can use any of their antlerless deer licences on agricultural land (Zone 2) included in their licence or purchase antlerless deer licences to hunt in a sub-unit of the metro by selecting the Deer Management Unit (DMU) where the sub-unit is located. It is forbidden to take or attempt to take Harlequins, Goose and Purple Gallinules. MNR and partner organizations offer a variety of ways to enjoy the deer hunting season: MNR divides the state into four deer management zones (DMZs) based on habitat type: northern forest, central forest, central farmland and southern farmland. In each DMZ, the department manages deer through Deer Management Units (DMUs), which typically follow county boundaries. Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a degenerative disease of the brain and nerve tissue that infects white-tailed deer and other deer. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources began monitoring the state`s wild white-tailed deer for CWD in 1999. The first positive results were obtained in 2002 during trials on deer shot by hunters in November 2001.
While it is not necessary to test a deer shot, hunters are encouraged to learn about CWD in Wisconsin and keep abreast of mandatory bait and feeding restrictions. Non-toxic shot, ducks, geese or coots in possession of a bullet (shot or shot loose for rags by mouth), excluding approved non-toxic shot.
