Do I Need a Business License to Deduct Business Expenses

If you meet these requirements, the advantage is that all business expenses are summarized and reported in a single line. You cannot report a loss and can only operate one business without employees. You cannot claim a deduction for the professional use of your home and you do not have to file Form 4562 for depreciation. If the amount you repaid was more than $3,000, you can deduct the refund as another individual deduction from Schedule A (Form 1040 or 1040-SR), line 16, if you included the income in a «legal claim». This means that at the time you included the income, it seemed that you had an unlimited right to it. However, you can choose to claim a credit for the repayment year.
