Approved by the American Bar Association, the Certificate in Paralegal Studies prepares students for a career as a professional paralegal in a law firm, corporation, government, or nonprofit. The program meets the educational requirements to work as a paralegal in California and is taught by instructors certified by UCLA Law School. Working in the legal profession can take you from high-profile criminal cases to major civil litigation. Whatever your career goals, at UCLA Extension, we can help you gain the specialized skills needed to enter this exciting and rewarding field.

Applicants must apply and be accepted into the Paralegal Studies program prior to enrolling in this course. For more information and to apply: We offer 5 and 11 month programs in which you will be taught in the following areas: paralegal profession, common law, practical paralegal skills, civil procedure law and statutory law. Both the 5-month and 11-month programs are offered in Westwood and downtown Los Angeles, giving you more opportunities to get the training you need. The UCLA School of Law program program is developed in collaboration with UCLA Law School with input from our advisory board of industry experts. Instructors are also approved by UCLA Law School and include lawyers, judges, paralegals, and other lawyers selected from a wide range of the legal community. Some are also graduates of the program themselves who have pursued careers as lawyers or judges. Our diverse faculty base offers a unique and relevant perspective on the legal field.

For this reason, all of our trainers are lawyers, judges, paralegals and other lawyers selected from a wide range of the legal community. We pride ourselves on the expertise of our instructors. Some of our instructors are also graduates of the program themselves who started a career as lawyers or judges after working as paralegals. This 5-month program offers a more traditional schedule designed for those who work night shifts or have other commitments, but have mornings available to study.

I started looking around, and it wasn`t long before I realized that UCLA Extension`s program was the best in Southern California. I was able to follow the five-month program and start working right away! Candidates must apply and be accepted into the program before enrolling in the required course.
